Abstract: The preparation, physical, and electrochemical properties of Li-ion conducting membranes, poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) [P(VDF-HFP)]-based gel polymer electrolytes, are briefly reviewed in this paper. Phase separation or inversion method is mostly used to prepare microporous membranes because of the flexibility of its operation and controllable pore structure. The crystallinity of the polymer matrix and the pore structure of the membrane are the key issues to prepare P(VDF-HFP)-based gel polymer electrolytes with high Li+ conductivity and good mechanical strength. As to their further directions, they are also discussed.
