Monday, 9th August
President's Address and Reception
Lecture hall at the Institute of Physiology for all participants,
from 18:00 to 20:00
The reception is free of charge.
Friday, 13th August
Reception for the Council Delegates from 19:00 to 21:00
Tickets are free of charge.
Sightseeing Tours
An indication of ticket requirements should be given on the
enclosed registration form, including events which are free
of charge.
Saturday, 7th August
Berlin Sightseeing Tour. This three-hour tour with an English
speaking guide will show you the most notable sites of Berlin.
From the old, historically important, places such as Schloss
Charlottenburg, the Reichstag and Gendarmenmarkt to the new buildings
on Potsdamer Platz (minimum 58 persons). Price: ca. DEM 25.-
per person.
Sunday, 8th August
Tour through Potsdam. Visit the impressive castles of Potsdam
and promenade in the beautiful parks of Sanssouci. There will
be a guided tour in English through the castle of Sanssouci (minimum
58 persons). Price: ca. DEM 40.- per person (including entrance
fee to the castle). A similar tour will be available on Saturday
14th August together with the participants of the IUPAC Congress.
Monday, 9th August
Berlin boat tour. Three large rivers run through Berlin and
there are many old canals. From the water you have a different
and interesting view of Berlin (for 30-70 persons). The price
will be ca. DEM 40.- per person.
Tuesday, 10th August
You can visit the new Picture Gallery (Gemäldegalerie)
with an exciting permanent exhibition of great European paintings;
or you can visit the Pergamon Museum. The latter is home to
ancient art such as the Ishtar Gate of Babylon, the Market Gate
of Miletus or the famous Pergamon Altar. (Groups of 25-50 Persons
per museum). The price will be ca. DEM 12.- per person, per
museum, including English speaking guide.
Wednesday, 11th August
Visit the beautiful old castle, Schloss Charlottenburg. Take
a stroll through the park (of course free of charge), or visit
the exhibitions in the castle. A guided tour in English for
25-50 persons will be available. Price ca. DEM 12.- per person.
Saturday, 14th August
The same tour through Potsdam as offered on Sunday the 8th August.
There will be a guided tour in English through the castle Sanssouci
(minimum 58 persons). Price : ca. DEM 40.- per person (including entrance
fee to the castle).
